For more than 30 years Frank
Stone has been designing and building art with glass and nonferrous
metals.
In the early 1970's he began
etching, glue-chipping, and deep carving plate glass for many projects.
As time went on he helped develop a system of laminating glass over etched
and glue-chipped glass, as well as glue-chipping hand blown flashed glass
(2 or 3 color levels) to reveal the colors from below. He has been
laminating photographic images between glass for many years.
In the 1980's his work began
to include kinetic stained glass sculptures that needed brass bases.
This led to more and more brass sculpture which, in turn, found him making
tables, walls, screens, benches, fountains, etc. in brass and glass.
The mixing of these two media lends itself well to outdoor environments
since it is rust free, patina covered,
